Today was super busy with a second presentation at Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston for the tenth graders and in the afternoon exploring abandoned parts of the Naval base, Magnolia Cemetery, McLeod Plantation, Folly Beach, and Bowen's Island, a tiny chunk of land that, at its terminus, has an oyster restaurant that sits very high with a great view. Conditions were near perfect for shooting outside: 54 degress F, clear cerulean skies, and high clouds of intriguing shapes. Many of the locations yielded "pay dirt," the kind of compositions that Mindy and I seek out in our travels. Special thanks to Micheline Callicott and Michelle van Parys for their thoughtful suggestions of places to check out.
